The challenge
P1 Contractors’ soft landscaping projects can run for the best part of a year, with a further 12-month defects and maintenance period on top. Before SymTerra, everything was on paper: crews handed over piles of paperwork each night for the office to work through, and finding one record months later meant going through, as Richard McMonagle describes it, “masses of filing cabinets.” WhatsApp covered some of the gap during a project, but photos and messages were rarely there when they were needed most, sometimes six or twelve months after the fact.
The solution
SymTerra worked with P1 to turn their existing paper forms into digital ones that looked close enough to the originals that the switch barely felt like a change. Site teams now log measurements, checks and photos as they go, building a record that’s still there long after the crew has moved on to the next job.
